Thank you, faithful readers, for checking on updates. I’m taking a break from writing today. It takes a good deal of time, from early wake up to completion. I was out sort of late last night and have a pretty full day of things that need doing. We had to get a new computer and printer that have to be brought up to speed. And, between Emmaus and church, there are meetings and emails and phone calls on the agenda. We also get back with our couples’ small group tonight after a seasonal hiatus. It will be great to see everyone. We’re winding our way through A.W. Tozer’s Pursuit of God. Tozer lays it out in a raw and compelling fashion.
Thank you to Ken for last night. I received a generous invitation to accompany him to the North Coast Repertory Theater for a showing of Dick Enberg’s McGuire. This one person, one act play depicted the career of the famous Marquette Basketball coach and NBC analyst, Al McGuire, who Ken had known personally. (Of course, Ken also knows Enberg.) Two other men from Ken’s company joined us and we had a great time immersed in sports history and culture. Enberg was present and took questions afterwards and told more stories. I was able to say hello to a broadcaster whom I respect. Lots of other story telling on the drive over to Solana Beach and back. Ken reminds me of my dad, one of the best story tellers ever.
Thank you, also to the wonderful RBCPC church staff, who prayed over me after our regular meeting midday. You are dear to me and it’s been a privilege to work alongside you this past eighteen months. Actually, more than a privilege. Where we are now, simply, is a source of joy. And, there’s a lot more to come!
Tired at the end of the day but it was a good day.
God bless.
As Marquette graduates, Joan and Lefty love Al McQuire. So happy that you were able to go! SPM
